Chef Tina will be demonstrating garnish and knife skills in person at the annual Pro Start competition on Saturday, February 24th. Make sure to stop by and say hello. Chef Powers is a Certified Executive Chef and Certified Culinary Educator as well as a Certified Master Baker. Before joining Western Culinary Institute, she was the Department Representative of the Culinary Arts Program at Metropolitan Community College, and the Director of the Bakery Arts and Management program at Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver, Colorado. Prior to that, Powers was Executive Chef at Westwood Country Club and the Warwick Hotel in Houston, Texas; Executive Sous Chef at the Claremont Resort and Spa in Berkeley, California, Executive Chef at the Danville Hotel, Executive Chef at the Union Hotel in Benecia, California, and Chef for Cinema Chef International in Los Angeles. Chef Powers is currently the owner of a restaurant and bakery consulting business, Bread, Soup, Etc. Chef Tina Powers earned her Associate Degree in Culinary Arts and Management at Metropolitan Community College. She also earned her Chef Certificate from Diablo Valley College in California. Chef Powers is member of the American Culinary Federation, Retailers Bakery Association, Bread Bakers Guild of America and was past Apprentice Chair of Chef de Cuisine in Denver, Colorado. |
